This course will develop your understanding, skills and competencies of what dementia is and how to support individuals with dementia. This qualification is intended to update and continue the professional development of students and to develop their knowledge and skills relevant to occupational specialisation.
Units may include:
- understanding models of dementia and disability
- dementia awareness
- understand and implement a person-centred approach to the care and support of individuals with dementia
- equality, diversity, and inclusion in dementia care practice
- understand and enable interaction and communication with individuals with dementia
- approaches to enable rights and choices for individuals with dementia while minimising risks.
Students are expected to have at least a Level 1 qualification in English, which will be assessed before starting this course.
This qualification is online only so you can study at your own pace, in your own workspace. This qualification includes 180 guided learning hours.
This is a distance learning course. Assessment must meet the requirements of the identified assessment strategy/principles. All learning outcomes must be met to achieve a pass.
After successfully completing this course, you could go on to study:
- Level 2 Diploma in Care
- Level 2 Certificate in Understanding End of Life Care
- Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care
- Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support.
