Travel support

For students travelling to College by bus, termly Student passes at discounted prices are available from First Bus and Stagecoach for their public services in Portsmouth and the wider Hampshire/Sussex area.

First Bus: https://www.firstbus.co.uk/buy-ticket  mTickets (Mobile Tickets) are available to buy in the First Bus App.  Look for COPC Student tickets relevant to your area when you buy your Bus Pass.  The pass is kept securely in your virtual; wallet in the First Bus app on your phone. 

Stagecoach: https://www.stagecoachbus.com/regionaltickets/south/portsmouth-and-havant/unirider buy your bus pass from the Stagecoach website.  Issued passes are delivered to the home address and need to be shown to drivers alongside Student ID cards.

Additional support for transport is available for some students living further afield (10km+) including the Isle of Wight.

For students travelling to College by train, a discounted 16-25 railcard is available via Trainline offering 1\3 off eligible train fares, making the journey to College more affordable and allowing you to explore more of the UK in your free time. Find out more about the Trainlines 16-25 Railcard.

Students entitled to a City of Portsmouth College bursary receive full support with their cost of travel to college. Bursary applications are means tested and have limited funds available – applications should be made as early as possible once forms are issued for the relevant year of study.

Students with learning difficulties and disabilities under the age of 19 may get help with transport costs from their Local Education Authority (LEA)*.
