The T Level in Electrotechnical Engineering is a 2 year programme. The technical qualification is made up of two components, both of which need to be successfully achieved.
The Core Component:
The core content is designed to offer sufficient breadth of knowledge and skills for the learner to apply in a variety of contexts related to the industry, and those occupational specialisms linked to the T Level. The core content is the building blocks of knowledge and skills that will give learners a broad understanding of the industry and job roles. At the same time, it will develop the core skills they will need to apply when working within industry.
The core content covers a wide range of topics related to industry which includes:
- health and safety in construction
- construction and the built environment industry
- building technology principles
- construction science, design, sustainability and measurement principles
- Information and data principles
- digital technology in construction
- relationship management in construction
- commercial / business principles in construction.
Occupational Specialisms:
Occupational specialisms develop knowledge, skills and behaviours necessary to achieve threshold competence in an occupation.
Within the Electrotechnical Engineering specialism you will be learning and developing your knowledge in the following topics:
- installation methods, commissioning and decommissioning
- analysing and using information to and from electrotechnical systems
- systems and products used in electrotechnical engineering
- health and safety practices
- tools, materials and equipment used to complete tasks.
Industry placements:
The T Level also includes a minumum of 315 hours of learning within industry on an industry placement.
The T Level Level 3 in Building Services Engineering for Construction - Electrotechnical Engineering is aimed at learners aged 16-18 at the start of their course, who wish to work within the building services industry.
- a minimum of 5 GCSE at grade 4 or above including maths, English and science.
- those that have completed a Level 2 Diploma in a relevant sector subject may also apply.
To give you the best possible chance of successfully completing your qualification, 100% attendance is expected for the duration of the course.
In the first year of this qualification, the core topics are assessed through an external exam and an employer set project.
The second year which is your occupational specilalism, is assessed through synoptic assignment.
On successful completion of this course, you could progress into higher education, an apprenticeship or into employment.
