For those who want to develop the specialist knowledge required by the automotive sector.
Units include:
- vehicle auxiliary electrical faults
- light vehicle engine faults
- light vehicle transmission and driveline faults
- inspecting light vehicles using prescribed methods.
You will be taken on a number of trips to find out about different aspects of the industry and the many roles open to you. You will also benefit from 24/7 access to our online resources ATT, Electude, LJ Create and Vehicle Visuals.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English, and a Level 2 automotive qualification.
This is a full-time day course.
The assessment of is made up of three components which are set by IMI:
- practical tasks
- online testing
- written assignment/coursework
- all work carried out on the IMI e-portfolio.
You can progress straight into employment or a higher apprenticeship. Once employed, you can return to complete the part-time Level 4 Master Technicians course, MOT tester training and numerous Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) short courses.
